Round Africa Flight
Sir Alan Cobham became the first person to fly around the African Continent in his Short Singapore flying boat.

He began this journey at Rochester, England on 17 November 1927 when large crowds gathered to see the start of his inspirational flight.
The journey spanned 18,115 miles around Africa where Sir Alan Cobham and his companions visited 49 different destinations.
The flight lasted 6 months and 15 days, ending on 31 May 1928 at Plymouth, England when jubilant crowds again welcomed him home.
